Welcome to Obesity Surgery Adelaide online. Our organisation is a dedicated setup to help achieve what all obese individuals are striving for - to secure and maintain weight loss.

I am Dr. Paul Leong, and I have been practicing obesity (or gastric) surgery for more than twenty years. As well as being a gastric band surgeon, I am also the Head of the Upper Gastro-Intestinal Surgical Unit at the Lyell McEwin Hospital in Adelaide. This hospital is shaping up to be one of the major public hospitals along the Adelaide north-south axis.

My team is a dedicated, conscientious group, and we offer a caring, personalised and friendly approach to all patients. Our aim is to work closely with them to achieve and maintain weight loss.

The core of the team comprises myself, my reception and nursing staff, and my dietitian. The majority of our patients have already "tried everything" and the common story is that their weight goes up and down like a yo-yo. In the current multimedia environment, most patients here have done quite a bit of research into bariatric procedures.

But nevertheless, it is very necessary for us to discuss in detail the procedure that is most suitable for that particular patient. Although the core group is as stated before, if I believe there is a need to involve other health professionals such as a food psychologist, an exercise physiologist or a psychiatrist, then they would be involved in the case of the patient.
